As told in the Journal of Boddyock:

            Derek’s family was killed in a drow raid when Derek was small. Derek was taken into the church at a very young age and became a cleric. Derek accelerated in the religion on Tyr and in the practices of law and peacekeeping. Through out his young age Derek always had the same nightmare that he saw his mother and father slain in front of him.

In the middle of the raid a knight in perfect plate mail came and slew the drow marauders that killed Derek’s parents and protected young Derek. The knight touched young Derek and a mark appeared on Derek’s arm the mark of Tyr. When Derek tried to look at the knight’s face Derek always wakes up. Later Derek was found on the steps of the church.

Derek was noticed as a novice and was taken into the paladin training. He was given a task to go to Thesk and administer justice to and for the people. Derek gladly accepted the task and prepared for the journey the church had asked Derek to establish a base of operations so that the church of Tyr can be established. Derek was to start out as an adventurer and gain notoriety and then report back to the church in Mistledale. It was about this time that I met Derek and Nym. I, by the way, am Boddynock Stumbleover. I am a gnomish cleric from Latham. I am a cleric of Gond and some what of an inventor. I was sent to Thesk to make inventions and to gain samples of others for use or to improve on.

I work for the church doing holy defense making inventions to help protect the city of Latham and the temple of Gond . I was assigned because of my talents to be a teksmith.

I’m to go to the mineral rich area of Thesk and find materials to build my Gondsman. I am also to go and spread the glory of the wonder bringer. Any ways I met nym and Derek as we were looking for a way to get to thesk fast we were all in mistledale and I just left a caravan bound for icewind dale so we all got together and rented a carriage to take us to thesk. As we were approaching thesk we had to go through thay. Derek went crazy through there it took myself and nym just to hold him back. we had to pay the carriage driver to leave quickly so there were no problems with the thayvians.

Through the long journey we became the best of friends discussing theology and our hobbies. we saw a group in need of people for the tournament so we joined to help each other and our new found friends.

In side notes I noticed in nym an inner struggle that he fills lost and confused I will try to help him out besides I always wanted brothers. I sense that although nym has issues his heart seems genuine but with a twinge of darkness I shall look to myself to watch over him.

Derek seems to be a very wise and passionate person who wishes to be fair and just in his decisions he has some anger issues and especially hates the drow. Which I am inclining to agree with. I find myself enjoying the friends I’ve made and hope that it is my god’s will for me to spend the rest of my days with the whole group. Derek has a passion with the art of carpentry and wood sculpting.
