Redbottom Creek

Redbottom creek got its name from the red to purple-red garnet grit in the sand at its bottom.  Runoff from mineral rich portions of the Dragonjaw Mountains brings the crimson grit down from the heights, and it gathers in small pools here and there in undisturbed sections of the flow.  None of the grit is quality.

The creek is thirty to forthy feet wide most of the time, but swells in the early spring when snow runoff from the Dragonjaws bloats it and causes all of the rocks to disappear beneath water.  It is navigable downstream by watercraft from Ches to Flamerule.  The rest of the year its depth varies from six inches to five feet.
